How Microsoft Dynamics 365 and incentX work together
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 integration connects incentX, an incentives and compensation platform, to the ERP your finance team closes on. A pre-built, bidirectional connector reads sales orders, invoices, credit records, and AP/AR lines. incentX checks each transaction against every active program, and once finance signs off, approved results can go back to Dynamics 365.
What you can run on Dynamics 365 data
Programs across legal entities and currencies
Large Dynamics 365 deployments often span several companies and currencies. One incentX instance covers all of them, with rules set per entity and reporting consolidated across the group. Those totals still trace to the individual Dynamics 365 transactions, so one auditable record covers every program, entity, and currency.
One invoice evaluated against every program
A single enterprise sale can fall under a commission plan, a customer rebate, a royalty, and a trade promotion. incentX treats the Dynamics 365 invoice as the spine, meaning the single ERP transaction all of those programs run from. It evaluates that invoice once and detects programs that overlap on the same customer, product, or buying group.
Approvals that follow your sign-off policy
Payouts, exceptions, and adjustments can require multi-level approval by program, amount, role, and business unit before money moves. Each decision is logged against the originating Dynamics 365 transaction, and field-level audit logs record the prior value, new value, and author of every change. Auditors can get the full trail on request.
How setup works
- IT creates read credentials or API keys in Dynamics 365 and approves the outbound connection on the allowlist. Most connectors are running within a day of that.
- An implementation engineer maps Dynamics 365 customers, items, and legal entities to your program rules, loads historical transactions, and validates the calculations with finance.
- At launch, approved payouts can post back to Dynamics 365 as GL entries or AP/AR records, and a dedicated success manager is assigned.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 integration FAQ
Does incentX integrate with Microsoft Dynamics 365?
Yes. incentX has a pre-built, bidirectional connector for Microsoft Dynamics 365. It reads sales orders, invoices, and AP/AR lines without middleware or a data warehouse, and it can post calculated commissions, rebates, royalties, and promotion settlements back to Dynamics 365 as GL entries or AP/AR records.
Does incentX run calculations inside Dynamics 365?
No. The calculation engine runs in incentX’s cloud environment, isolated from your ERP’s compute. Transactions from Dynamics 365 are ingested, normalized against your configured plans, and evaluated by the rule engine there. Results are stored in incentX and post back to Dynamics 365 only if you choose.
How often does incentX sync with Dynamics 365?
It depends on the connection. Native connectors sync through change-data-capture or webhook triggers, typically in under five minutes, while systems without native event support use scheduled sync as often as every 15 minutes. Each run is logged with its timestamp, record count, and any exceptions.
Is the Dynamics 365 connection secure?
Yes. incentX is certified to SOC 2 Type II, and data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher and at rest with AES-256. Your IT team provisions the read credentials the connector uses. Users can sign in through SSO with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) or Okta, so access is managed centrally.
